I don’t really think success should or can be measured by appearance even though people often try to do so. When a female or male looks nice and they are talked about by others, I look at that in terms of jealously and insecurity of the people doing the talking. I don’t look at it as the crab in a bucket mentality though. So called beautifully people are often talking about others due to their own insecurities and attempt to get attention others may be getting. What those people may not realize is that inner qualities may be the reason why others may be getting attention.
ReplyDeleteNow for the crab in bucket mentality, I relate that more to people gaining more financially, in business or socially and people who haven’t trying to pull them down. Why I don’t think success can be measured by appearance is because unless people are going to a plastic surgeon to look better, there is not much one can do to change their appearance other than working out, buying new clothes and wearing makeup. Never-the-less, people view success differently. Where I may think success is having a good family or being the best man I can be, others may think of success as making the most money or looking the best.
I like your video blogs and encourage you to do more. You never know who you may have a positive influence on. Plus open, honest and anger less talks I think can be very beneficial to all communities.

thanks for commenting Tim... and I believe i did mean "crab in a bucket" the same way you did... the main idea was that as black people we are quick to judge and tear down others who are doing good for themselves instead of praising them and aspiring to reach our own goals. But ur input is appreciated and i of course will keep doing what i'm doing!
